Make challenges, explained.

How to make a Minecraft challenge in the visual scripting editor: getting started, the ideas behind it, every template explained, and the reference.

  • Getting started

A first challenge: a draft, an event, a few steps, a save, and a server to play it on.

    Ten minutes
  • The ideas

What the editor's parts are and how they fit: events, flow, values, the world, mobs, items, menus, goals.

    Events first
  • Examples

Each template explained rule by rule, in the editor's words, ready to start from.

    Every template
  • Reference

Every event, action, function, and transform, generated from the catalog the editor and the plugin share.

    Everything

The ideas.

Twelve short pages, in the order they build on each other.

  • Events What a rule waits for: something a player, a mob, a block or the challenge itself does, with filters to narrow it.
  • Flow Ifs, loops, waits, and picks at random: how the steps after an event run, branch, and repeat.
  • Values Expressions: literals, the event's fields, locals, and functions, each with a type the editor checks.
  • Variables Numbers, words, players, places, and lists the challenge keeps, for everyone or per player, and on the sidebar.
  • Players and selections The player, the team, others, the nearest, and selections that narrow a list of players or mobs by a check.
  • Blocks, chunks, and areas Reading and changing the world: a block, a layer, a box, the loaded chunks, and the queue that applies big changes.
  • Generation A world of the challenge's own: a base shape, its blocks, and a stack of transforms such as skygrid, one wide, and random blocks.
  • Mobs and entities Spawning, tagging, pushing and pulling, attributes such as gravity and scale, and the events mobs raise.
  • Items Custom items with their own names, lore, and powers, given, checked, and used by the steps.
  • Menus and commands Chest-like menus whose clicks are events, and commands players type with typed arguments.
  • Goals What the sidebar tracks and what wins: an event, a variable reaching a number, a check, or a step that completes it.
  • Limits and performance The budgets a challenge runs within, what the estimate says, and how to keep a server smooth.
